YOUR RIGHTS AS A CONSUMER
The Federal Trade Commission ruled that individuals should be able to purchase a casket from whoever they choose. Funeral homes cannot put a stipulation on the purchase of a casket with the purchase of funeral services if you choose to purchase a casket from a source other than the funeral home. It is the law that the funeral home must use the casket you have chosen and bought and must accept delivery of the casket, whether or not you are present for the delivery. The funeral home is not to cause you any undue duress or embarrassment.
